question 3 case study

With reference to your case study and using your own research, evaluate the use of new technologies to:

·         Make it simpler for a employee to use the network

·         Speed up the procedures that the company has to undertake

·         Enhance the security of wireless networks

1)      The use of wireless network is very practical but is much more time consuming than the use of a wired network. In some cases there are technological difficulties to simply access and connect to a wireless network, and this often happens in business where the security is at its optimum. New technologies for the wireless networks could verify the person who is trying to gain access and would immediately prompt him without many difficulties.

2)      There is also the huge problem of slow bandwidth connection. Wireless has enhanced significantly since it has build. There are now wireless G, Wireless N, and in the future there will be even faster and wider (WAN) wireless networks that could be used to link to the server like in this case. Like everything there is a limit and currently the limit for wireless G networks is 54 MB/s and the limit for the wireless N is 300 MB/s, even though these are good as a connection to the internet it will be very problematic since there will be a lot of file transfer in the server itself (which it is connected to). Since the fastest wired is the 10 GB/s Ethernet port, there will be an enhancement with the wireless in the near future which could get up to this speed.

3)      Security is the biggest problem for wireless. Since wireless is a Wide area network (WAN). There could be any malicious attack to the network which would infect the whole server. The future could be heavily enhanced wireless-specific software and functions such as firewalls. Wireless in the future could be invisible to some and would only appear to people who have access, this would be done manually from an IT administer.
